Family Driving School – Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions govern the provision of driving lessons, instructor training, and related services by Family Driving School. By booking lessons, using our website, or engaging with our services, you agree to be bound by the following Terms & Conditions.

Please read them carefully before making a booking.

Terms & Conditions

1. About Family Driving School

Family Driving School provides professional manual and automatic driving lessons, intensive driving courses, motorway lessons, refresher lessons, practical test preparation, and Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) training throughout Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

2. Lesson Bookings

Driving lessons are subject to instructor availability.

Bookings may be made by telephone, email, WhatsApp, social media, or through our website. A lesson is only considered confirmed once it has been accepted by Family Driving School.

We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your preferred lesson dates and times.

3. Payments

Payment for individual lessons must be made before the lesson begins unless an alternative arrangement has been agreed.

Prepaid lesson packages must be paid in full before the first lesson.

Family Driving School reserves the right to amend lesson prices at any time. However, prepaid lesson packages will be honoured at the price originally agreed.

4. Cancellation & Rescheduling

We require a minimum of 48 hours’ notice if you wish to cancel or rearrange a driving lesson.

Where less than 48 hours’ notice is provided, the full lesson fee may be charged.

Failure to attend a scheduled lesson without prior notice will be treated as a missed appointment and the lesson fee will remain payable.

If your instructor needs to cancel due to illness, vehicle issues, adverse weather, or unforeseen circumstances, an alternative lesson will be arranged at the earliest available opportunity.

5. Late Arrival

If you arrive late for your lesson, the lesson will still finish at the agreed time unless your instructor is able to extend it.

If your instructor is delayed, every effort will be made to provide the full lesson duration or arrange replacement time where appropriate.

6. Driving Licence Requirements

You must hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence appropriate for the type of lesson you are taking.

Your instructor may request to see your driving licence before your first lesson or at any time during your training.

It is your responsibility to ensure your licence remains valid throughout your tuition.

7. Fitness to Drive

You must not attend a lesson if you are under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or any medication that could impair your ability to drive safely.

You must inform your instructor of any medical condition or prescribed medication that may affect your driving.

You must also meet the legal eyesight requirement, including being able to read a vehicle number plate from the required distance while wearing corrective lenses if necessary.

8. Practical Driving Tests

Learners are responsible for booking their own practical driving test unless Family Driving School has agreed to do so on their behalf.

The use of an instructor’s vehicle for the practical driving test is entirely at the instructor’s discretion.

If your instructor believes you have not yet reached a safe or test-ready standard, they may decline the use of their vehicle. This decision is made in the interests of your safety, the driving examiner, and other road users.

Family Driving School cannot guarantee that any learner will pass their practical driving test.

9. Driving Test Vehicle Hire

Where agreed, driving test vehicle hire includes use of the instructor’s vehicle for the practical driving test together with any pre-test lesson arranged beforehand.

Test-day fees must be paid before the booking date.

10. ADI Instructor Training

Family Driving School provides professional training for candidates preparing for the DVSA Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) qualification, including Part 2 and Part 3 training.

While we provide expert coaching and guidance, successful completion of DVSA qualifying examinations cannot be guaranteed.

11. Learner Conduct

We are committed to maintaining a respectful, professional, and safe learning environment.

Abusive, threatening, aggressive, discriminatory, or inappropriate behaviour towards instructors or staff will not be tolerated.

Family Driving School reserves the right to terminate lessons or discontinue services where behaviour is considered unacceptable.

12. Safety

Safety remains our highest priority.

Your instructor is responsible for ensuring lessons are conducted safely and may end or postpone a lesson if road conditions, weather, vehicle safety, or learner behaviour make it unsafe to continue.

13. Refund Policy

Refund requests for unused prepaid lessons will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Lessons already completed will be charged at the current standard lesson rate before any remaining balance is refunded.

Gift vouchers, promotional offers, and discounted lesson packages are non-refundable unless required by law.
